3 Reasons to Have a Morning Routine

Good morning! It’s been awhile once again. I truly don’t have any excuses, but I am in a brand new space and a brand new headspace. It has been a little busy for me moving and unpacking, so all my routines have been all out of wack including my morning routine. After a month of unpacking and furnishing my new space, I have finally gotten back into the swing of things. Needless to say, I definitely missed my morning routine the most!

I know some people don’t feel like it’s necessary to have a routine or think that they’re over the top, especially in the influencer/creator space. A morning routine doesn’t have to be complicated or even require a ton of tasks. I like to keep mine pretty simple and straightforward because it’s easier to stay consistent.

My morning routine during the work week usually goes something like this:

•Wash face

•Brush teeth

•Journal for 5-10 minutes

•Make bed

That’s honestly it! So simple and easy to do every single day. Of course, I do add onto this depending on how early I wake up but if I’m out of bed at 8am or later then I stick to the routine above. If earlier, I add Pilates, Yoga or a walk in there.

But why would you even need to follow a morning routine?

Stress Reducer

Have you ever woke up one morning and just laid in the bed until the last possible minute? Now you’re rushing and putting jeans on while brushing your teeth. You skip breakfast and you left your keys in the house. Now you’re running late to work. If you work from home, then the day just has some underlying chaos to it. Yeah, I’ve been there.

I don’t know about you, but I like stress-free days or at least days that I didn’t cause stress on myself. So yes, having a morning routine reduces stress.

Better Mood

I can only speak for myself here, but whenever I follow my morning routine to a T, I’m genuinely happier. Making my bed is probably the thing that makes it all click together or maybe it’s when I wash my face. Whatever it is, I am just instantly put in a better mood even when I’m not feeling the best.

In the middle of writing this, I hadn’t even started my morning routine and I felt like I was lacking a little bit, but then I went on ahead and did my morning routine. I also prepped a nice Saturday breakfast and came back. I feel so much better now that I’ve structured my morning and day, which brings me to my next point.

Structure

I believe everyone (and everything) does well and feels better when there is structure. Think of a morning routine as the foundation of a house. If there isn’t a good foundation then the house comes tumbling down eventually. Structuring your day on a high note pretty much (not 100%) guarantees that it’ll stay on that note. That’s not to say if you don’t have a morning routine you’ll always have a bad or unproductive day, but if you could choose how your day at least starts, wouldn’t you?

There’s also many more reasons to have a morning routine, but those are the main reasons that made me want to start doing the same thing every morning. It sounds boring at first, but I promise, being consistent every day will take you far. It will even make you want to develop even more healthy habits like waking up earlier or eating cleaner.

I’ll be posting more from now on, now that I’m in a new space and even better headspace. I know I’ve said that before, but hopefully (fingers crossed) it’s true! Thanks for reading,

ChelsiKay
