The 5 Best Highlighters (My Collection)

I am a huge highlighter junkie – no not the pens, the makeup. Highlighters are probably my only guilty pleasure…okay eyelashes too.  I just love the way a glowy cheekbone glimmers in the sunlight or in photo with the perfect lighting. Oddly enough, I have never talked about my collection of highlighters on here before. It’s not super excessive, but if I could, I would buy almost every brand that I’ve seen online. Anyway, keep reading and I guess looking to see my lovely collection of highlighters.

The First One

Okay, so I had to start off with the first highlighter palette that I purchased for myself and no one else. I went with some random brand that I kept seeing on Instagram that was actually super affordable, Karity. I have literally used this palette non-stop since I have purchased it. I’m not sure if I should still be using it considering I bought it in 2017, but it’s just soooo good. There are four colors in the palette and each of them does the damn thing every time. I almost always get asked what highlighter I’m wearing and people don’t believe me when I say its NOT the Anastasia Glow Kit. I’d definitely purchase this again and again if I had to.

The Everyday One

Why is it that NYX just gets it? How can such a cheap brand always be so spot on?  The liquid highlighter Born to Glow is just the perfect everyday glow that EVERYONE needs. It’s not glittery at all, but it still somehow has shimmer…maybe more like a sheen. Either way, I love this for when I’m just going to work or running some quick errands. There are different shades of this liquid highlighter so you can pick whichever color suits your skin tone best.

The Glam One

One of my favorite brands is Becca. They are brown skin friendly AND their products are just amazing. They honestly have some of the best foundations out there…of course in my opinion. Their highlighters are probably the most popular on the market too…I know you’ve seen them around. My favorites just happen to be in the Becca x Chrissy Teigen Collection – both seasons. I like that they’re not just full of glitter but actual color. Any highlighter that goes on like a powder foundation (if its powder based) is a winner. There are some brands out there that are just glitter based and they have zero lasting power. Becca does not fall into that category.

The Extra One

This highlighter is not for the faint-hearted. Juvia’s Place is a brand known for being super affordable and having super pigmented makeup. Also, they’re definitely brown skin friendly. The Royalty I Highlighter is something else in the sense that it literally stays on longer than your foundation. It’s blinding almost and that shimmers so beautifully in the sunlight. I only wear this when I want to be E-X-T-R-A because this is NOT an everyday glow for me. This is an “I’m on the rooftop at an all-white day party and plan on being here into the night,” type of highlighter.

The Subtle One

So this is technically a bronzer but it does do some pretty good highlighting. If you’re an OG makeup junkie then you’ve probably had the Laguna powder bronzer awhile back ago…I mean who didn’t? Well, they released liquid version a few years back and it is pretty awesome if you ask me. This could be used every day if you’re looking for something really subtle that just gives you a nice little pop of light on your cheekbones. This is an awesome option if you’re going on a date and don’t want to blind your them with your glowy cheekbones.

So, that is my highlighter collection. I do have more actually, but I don’t use them often at all. I have yet ANOTHER highlighter palette on the way as I’m typing this up and I hope at some point I can review it or just take pretty photos of it. Stay tuned for that post in a few days! Leave a comment and tell me what your favorite highlighter is.
