2018 Brand Awards: Skincare Edition

Hello, I know once again I haven’t posted in a while, but hopefully, once the New Year starts back up, I will be posting more regularly again. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas. Two years ago, I did Blogmas on here and had a blast writing for 25 consecutive days – it was quite a bit of work, but still fun. This year I was trying to figure out if I was going to do Blogmas again, but I decided against it and wanted to do something for the upcoming year instead.

Since this is a beauty and fashion blog I will focus on that for the next three days. Yup, three consecutive days of blog posts from yours truly! With all of that being said, I introduce to you the 2018 Brand Awards! Now, these are just the brands that I loved throughout the year because I obviously did not try every brand on the market. I decided to divide these “awards’ up into three blog posts: Skincare, Makeup, and Fashion. In each of the blog posts, I will be dividing the winners up into three categories. Today, we will focus on skincare…if you’ve been keeping up then you probably already know what brands will be awarded. Keep reading to see which skincare brands made it on my list this year.

2018’s Most Innovative Skincare Brand: Sunday Riley

I want to say that I purchased the Juno Oil at least three or four times this year and have sampled the hell out of Sunday Riley’s other products such as Good Genes, C.E.O., and the Ceramic Slip Cleanser. My other favorite oil from this brand is the Luna Sleeping Oil because it contains acne-fighting ingredients such as retinol, blue tansy, and German chamomile. Any skincare concern you have, Sunday Riley will have you covered. If you want an anti-aging serum – use C.E.O to fight wrinkles and repair the skin. If you’re looking for hydration, try the TIDAL Enzyme Water Cream with hyaluronic acid. This brand is on the expensive side, however, that is to be expected from a brand that is this innovative with their ingredients. The best part is they make minis for those who want to sample the products first or simply don’t want to break the bank at the moment. I’d recommend this brand to anyone who wants near instant result and doesn’t mind spending a little cash to do so.

2018’s Most Effective Skincare Brand: Glossier

I think if everyone did a brand awards on their blog, Glossier would most definitely pop up somewhere. Glossier almost made it into the innovative category, but Sunday Riley took the cake due to them being a natural brand or at least more natural. I adore pretty much every Glossier product that I have ever purchased both makeup AND skincare. However, their skincare is oddly on another level. The Solution is one of the best acid toners I have ever used and the Super Pure niacinamide serum really does calm down any acne you may have…even hormonal. Glossier is one of those brands that seem kind of overrated because of popularity…they just so happen to be highly effective products though. Also, the brand is affordable, especially for skincare products. It’s nice when you don’t have to spend a car note payment on a product that may or may not work. The skincare side of Glossier is great for people who are just starting their skincare journey and also for those who want to downsize and simplify their routines.

2018’s Standout Brand: Acwell

Korean Skincare basically knocked it out of the box this year. I have so many sheet masks that I haven’t used yet – it’s pretty ridiculous. Acwell made it’s appearance into my skincare routine earlier this year and pretty much saved my acne-prone skin. Adding products that both cleanse and hydrate my skin was one of the best decisions I’ve made this year. I purchased two products at SokoGlam under the brand Acwell and never looked back. Okay yall know I had to get a little bit dramatic but Acwell’s Licorice pH Balancing Toner is the only cleansing toner I purchase now. I always try to have the toner on hand because when I don’t use it, my skin reverts right back to being pimple prone. I have no clue what it is about these specific ingredients, but my skin LOVES it. I also use the Acwell’s matching pH Balancing Cleanser when my skin just needs a gentle cleanse. My number one rule when it comes to skincare now is to be gentle, yet effective. Acwell’s products are perfect for those who are sick of the traditional ingredients in our skincare and want to try the gentle and hydration route.

Those are basically my favorite skincare products from 2018. Maybe next year I’ll try new ones or maybe these will just become my holy grail products. Check back tomorrow for the Makeup Edition of the 2018 Brand Awards.

Thanks for reading,

ChelsiKay
