4 Easy to Care for Houseplants

I’m sure some of you have seen a bunch of plants in the background of my photos. They’re pretty much all over my house and have taken over my life. Not really, but they have become a huge part of my life over the last year. I started off with about four plants and that multiplied to about thirty pretty quickly. I’ve killed a few but most have survived and that’s with very minimal effort. If you’re interested in getting some houseplants that are easy to take care of, keep on reading.

One of the first plants I took care of myself and didn’t kill was a Devils Ivy or Green Pothos. I am currently the mother of a Neon Pothos which is thriving so much right now. This plant is very low maintenance and really only dies if you overwater it or place it in an area with a cool draft. If it’s a healthy Pothos then you’ll find you won’t have to water it that much either. Pothos of all kind are pretty much the staple in any plant owners home. This is THE starter plant for anyone and everyone. Fact: Pothos can grow very well in just plain tap water.

One of my favorite plants that showed growth all year round was my heart leaf philodendron. This plant has probably been the easiest out of any plant I own. I can go pretty long without watering it even though it actually likes water. I find I see a lot more growth if I wait a while in between waterings as well. I only say this because if you ever forget to water it for a couple of weeks, it will still be alive…but try not to forget to water it for that long like me…

One of the main reasons people tend to kill plants that are unkillable is because they overwater them! You’d be surprised at how often you DON’T have to water certain plants. So if you’re a bit heavy-handed with the water, get a Peace Lily. Peace Lilies LOVE water and they don’t mind being in darker environments. I wouldn’t recommend no sun, but that one corner in your room that only gets sun during a particular time of day will suffice.

I had to include this plant on the list because of how easy it is to take care of and how much it loves you back with growth. Monstera Deliciosa. You’ve seen it all over social media and it’s all over plant YouTube. You would think these would be difficult plants to care for but they’re super easy actually! They can be a little extra because they do grow pretty big and they will take up space if they can. You can always prune them back or cut back the roots to keep them small if you’re tight on space.

There are definitely more plants that are easy to care for but these are probably the most common and easy to find in store and online at an affordable price. I could go on and on about how to care for these specific plants but I think I can save that for different posts. Leave a comment and let me know what your favorite plant is or just if you have any questions.

Thanks for reading,
